Inflatable Hot Tub Buyer's Guide
79Splashing around in and inflatable hot tub is definitely a very nice way for your little ones to spend their summer. Not only will you earn major points with them, but you’ll also know your kids are safe and sound in your yard or wherever you decide to place the hot tub, instead of running around god knows where doing god knows what. For a relatively small investment you can definitely make you’re not only providing your children with hours of fun, but you may also take the opportunity to spend some quality time with them if you wish.
Pros and Cons
Let’s go over the pros and cons of inflatable hot tubs, that way you can decide if they’re really the right choice for you.
Pros
Affordability
The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about purchasing an inflatable hot tub is the low price range, however there are also definitely some high quality models out there to, these are usually referred to as “Inflatable Spas”.
Inflatable hot tub models tend to come in 3 different price ranges.
13-15$ - personal munchkin hot tubs suitable for very small children soaking in the sun for a little summer fun (with adult supervision of course).
150$ - 400$ - these are the most common inflatable hot tub models suitable for families and small to adolescent age children.
400$-1000$ - these are the top quality models referred to as personal spas, this are heave duty hot tubs designed mainly for grownups and adults. These models almost always come with a special pump that turns the inflatable tub into a full blown Jacuzzi.
Portability
Definitely more portable than any other type of tub, with a few easy steps you can move your hot tub to anywhere you want. Simply drain water, deflate, reposition and inflate once again, it’s that simple!
Seasonal and easy storage
Summer has passed and you really don’t feel like living that space hogging hot tub out in your backyard anymore, no problem! You can simply deflate your tub, fold it and store it almost anywhere until the next time the sun comes out behind those rainy clouds.
Cons
Durability
The only major con of inflatable hot tubs is their durability. Sense they are made out of inflatable materials they won’t be as sturdy or durable as other types of hot tubs. However, with proper care and maintenance an inflatable hot tub can last years, even decades if you get a higher quality model.
Buying an inflatable hot tub
Let’s look at some of the different things you’ll have to consider before you’ll make your purchase.
Who is it meant for?
As you probably know by now not all tub models are made for children. There are definitely a lot of inflatable spas out there designed specifically for adults. Whether it’s munchkin size or big enough to fit the whole family or a group of friends, deciding how big you wish your hot tub to be is definitely the first thing you should do.
Size
After you’ve decided who your target audience is going to be it’s time to figure out the number of people you’d like to fit in your hot tub. This isn’t going to be a clear cut number, people come in different shapes and sizes so how many of them can fit in together my vary. However there are general sizes to consider, 3-6, 8-12 or 15-20 at a time, the choice is yours.
Budget
Although size plays a major role in the initial cost of your inflatable hot tub, it’s definitely not the only factor. You may purchase a model that also has a Jacuzzi pump and different materials of your hot tub definitely play a major role in the overall price.
Think it through
Sense inflatable hot tubs are valued in the lower price ranges of hot tubs. I would say it’s highly advisable you get one of the higher quality ones. You really don’t want to live out the worst case scenario: you fill up the tub with water just to have it burst after five minutes of play, the kids start crying and you have to deal with the whole messy ordeal of cleaning up the mess and throwing out that now useless piece of rubber. Hopefully I haven’t discouraged you too much with that nightmare scenario. I just really want to emphasize the importance of getting a quality inflatable hot tub instead of half priced accident waiting to happen. The more durable inflatable hot tub models are made with acrylic and vinyl which really add major tear and rip resistance.
